Black Ink Thrown At Rakesh Tikait During Press Meet In Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait was smeared with black ink and attacked with a microphone at a press meet held in Bengaluru on May 30.

Visuals which surfaced online show unidentified miscreants proceeding toward the farmer leader and hitting him by using a microphone which was placed before Tikait. At the time same, another man threw black ink at him.

Chaos ensued thereafter and the situation turned from bad to worse as Tikait's supporters rushed to protect him after which an all-out skirmish took place. The situation escalated so much so that chairs were being flung around the venue.

Police have said that they have detained three persons so far for throwing black ink on the farmer leader.

Meanwhile, Tikait had called the press meet to inform about a sting operation in which a Karnataka farmer leader was allegedly caught asking for money.

The farmer leader pointed fingers at the BJP after the incident and accused the BJP led Karnataka government of not providing security at the venue.

"We were doing a press conference when some people came and started hitting us with the mics that were present there. It's the Karnataka government and police's failure. It was a conspiracy and needs to be investigated," Rakesh Tikait told the media.

Notably, Tikait happened to be the face of the farmers' protest against the three farm laws which have now been repealed by the central government.
